For over a century and a half, Olleys have pioneered the use of Cork. Today, Olleys based in Mildenhall Suffolk produce some of the most advanced cork based materials on the market and the most comprehensive and versatile range in the United Kingdom. It includes structures for acoustic anti-vibration, fire retardent, insulation, clutch, gasket, seal and expansion jointing applications for both traditional and high-performance products alike. The Olley closure was first developed by Chas Olley in 1844 and used extensively in both jugs, barrels and bottles. However applications such as roofing came later, cork for this application has been used all over the world. It was one of the first successful natural, automatically renewable materials. When, at the turn of the century the company took this development a stage further with the addition of laminates, the result was hailed by architects and specifiers alike as a substantial break-through in the application of natural renewable environmentally friendly materials. To this day, the products developed by Olley Cork are highly regarded as their continued use indicates. Insoll-Plus material approved by Sarna for use with a single membrane system was a result of research conducted by Olleys. Olleys have prospered from these developments and currently are pioneering the use of cork as a protective material for the transport of sensitive items. The fruits of the company's labours were set back when several
members of the family died during and just after World War II. Currently, the company is actively searching for further
retail outlets and agents to cover the country. Increasing profitability has allowed us to invest in both plant and research and we're launching new ranges and products in a number of markets. |
